Sorry

'Sorry has a meaning but yet it doesnt mean a thing.'

What does sorry really mean? I sympathize. I apologise. We say sorry for our mistakes, for our wrong actions. We say sorry to someone who is hurt in a way to let them know that we are there to listen or that we care. Some say sorry that someting went wrong or something was said that shouldn't have been. But most of the time, when is it ever really meant?

In this day of age, saying sorry is a reaction. It's a simple reflex. Someone complains about something we say "I'm sorry." But it isnt really meant. If you're behavior is out of line or blowing through the roof, sorry is said but not meant. As kids, when you apoligised for a mistake or for crossing a line, did you really mean it? Of couse we didnt mean it as kids. We had fun in the time that we made those bad choices. We vented. We werent sorry.

So yes, if you looked sorry up in the dictionary it would give you a definition, a meaning. But the way we put it into sentences in an everyday kind of thing, it isnt meant. On rare occasions if someone's loved one died, we'd sympathise. We would say sorry and that we understand. In that case it is sincere. But for the most part when it is said over five dozen times a day, it isnt meant.

Another thing, is when someone says they're sorry, it means it wont happen again. For instance, you make a mistake. You say sorry for your mistake and move on. And most of the time, the mistake reoccures. Sorry was never meant.

'Sorry has a meaning yet it doesnt mean a thing.'
